How to choose a tent according to the fabric?

How to choose a tent according to the fabric?
Tent is a necessary equipment for outdoor camping, and camping has high requirements for tent fabric, because it has to be: light, tear-resistant, waterproof, and even sun-proof.

The following we will introduce the tent material is common to camping.

Often seen fabric specifications: 210T, 15D, Oxford cloth, PET (polyester), silicone rubber fiberglass cloth, PU (polyurethane), DCF and so on, what does it mean?

    ONE. T, D

T and D are units for evaluating different properties of materials and can only be compared between the same units. The main differences are:
    1. the weight is different, T is the number of units of warp and weft within 1 square inch, which is the diameter of the fabric fibers; T the larger the number in front, the greater the weight, no D waterproof; light, while anti-tear high.
    2. D is the weight unit of the line, that is, the thickness of the line diameter, can also be understood as the fabric preparation density. the larger the number in front of D, the more wear-resistant, while the heavier; the finer the number, the better breathable.
    3. the price is different, the larger the number in front of the T, of course, the price is relatively cheap.
    4. the smaller the number in front of D, the thinner and more transparent tent raincoat, of course, the price is also relatively expensive.

Glamphet's tent outer fabric is 210D, waterproof index up to 3000mm, is able to withstand heavy rainfall level.

Because most of the fabric is 210D, so the tent is very thin, single version of the tent weight in about 1kg, waterproof, breathable are also very good, by the pursuit of campers like.

Different fabrics, different weights, waterproof index is also different.

    Oxford Fabric

    Second. Oxford cloth

The earliest Oxford University student uniform shirts were named after this cotton fabric. It also has a good waterproof performance and the fabric is very strong in durability.
From a usage point of view, waterproof, good heat insulation, sun exposure is not hot, but hard and bulky texture, easy to fade, but wear-resistant, generally can be used for tent bottom fabric.

    PET fiber (polyester fiber)

    Three. PET fiber (polyester fiber)

The biggest advantage of polyester fiber is the wrinkle resistance and conformability is very good, with high strength and elastic recovery ability. Its firm and durable, wrinkle-resistant and non-iron, non-stick lint.
Its disadvantage is that it is not very absorbent and easily absorbs dust.

If it is proximate camping, nothing complicated camping environment, and want to save budget, you can consider the tent made of this material.

    Four. silicone rubber fiberglass cloth

High-temperature resistant and high-strength fiberglass cloth as the base material, compounded by a special process of silicone rubber, is a high-performance, multi-purpose composite material.

High temperature resistance, aging resistance, highly waterproof, and light enough, highly tear-resistant. But the fabric is relatively brown to the touch, rarely seen useful in the tent.

    Five. PU (polyurethane)

PU chemically named polyurethane, polyurethane (PU) coated Oxford cloth as a base material, both sturdiness, cold resistance, or water resistance are greatly exceeded PE and PVC, PU coating can not only overcome the defects of PVC, waterproof is also very good. PU with multiple coatings, waterproof pressure can reach more than 2000MM. PU is also often mixed with other fabrics.

    Six. DCF

A top-level fabric material, the most expensive cloth, but light, waterproof, anti-tear degree, etc., but it is really quite expensive ...... so failed to popularize, and not much to say here.
