Generally speaking, in wild camping, camping is a means to extend one's time in the wild.
For example, when my photographer friend wants to shoot the astral sky, he has to stay at the top of a mountain far away from light pollution for several days. As he is far away from light pollution, there is certainly no hotel, so he can only choose to bring camping equipment and supplies and camp at the top of the mountain, waiting for the right time to shoot, usually for a week.

At this time, he care about whether the equipment looks pretty, comfortable or not? No, because he is here to shoot the perfect astronomy, photography equipment is already heavy enough, he only cares whether it can be used, reliable, light or not.

About last year, I also started to camp under the leadership of friends, the purpose of camping is probably leisure, find a place to play for a few days, rest, fishing, singing around the campfire, play some games, so we should bring better-looking tents, more comfortable tables and chairs, projectors, ice machines, coffee makers, barbecue tools, etc.
In glamping (glamorous camping), camping is a whole purpose, a way of recreation, a way to have a funny camping time, a way to camp for the sake of camping.

When we camp for the sake of camping, camping will naturally move from functionalism to formalism, from practicality to aesthetics, which is the inevitable result of camping from niche to mass, from hardcore to leisure.
The former is relatively simple and lightweight, mainly to extend the time spent outdoors alone, while the latter is mainly aesthetic and ritualistic, a relaxed and comfortable way to experience camping.
